Modern Design At it’s Finest

Slender linear lines continues on into the interior. Windows of floor to ceiling height that over sees the forest. This modern sleek home display less in colour but shows more interest with wood furniture and intricate accessories. Long wooden curved dining table with white metal base covering in the centre of the space displays interest and value. Rustic golden candle base giving visual interest to the table. On the right side wall there are different intricate wooden animals and mask. These wooden sculptures are basically either the clients hobbies of interest and were wanting it to be display on the space. At the far back there is a wooden dark hued cabinet that shows curves and carved wood grains. Wing Chair Fits In Any Space

Wing chair furniture has been very popular during the 16th century from England and is still selling worldwide through this day. Classical Golden Writing Desk

Antique furniture will always have a space within a modern home. Adding antiques will give a more interest outlook into any modern day home.

This modern home displays a classy outlook with a traditional antique interest. The colour palette of the space is black and white with vibrant interesting coloured hues. The desk has a marble topping and a golden covering  made out of intricate details. These details display of the classical period of egg and dart on the front part of the desk. Wanting to put interesting antique accessory into your modern everyday home? Well this video will be of interest to you.  Interior Designer Rebecca Robeson will elaborate more through her video how to mix and match old antiques into a modern clean cut home.

In this video she goes into a antique sale in San Diego, California at an antique store called Matilda’s Mouse.  Rebecca explains what she has bought at the store and how each piece of antique can give a modern space a little more warmth and interest.

The space Rebecca is designing is a home that is very dominate with dark hue coloured wood and placing cream colours and white to give a visual rest. The main interesting colour she displays is a muddy green to give interest to the space.  She displays china glass and old wooden jewellery boxes resting them upon a modern day clean cut drawer. With this addition to the space it helps give the modern drawer a eclectic feel within the design.  Rebecca’s main focus is to be able to teach the viewers how to group things that look beautiful and natural while adding hint of colour interest,  and as well texture to a home.

Wondering how to mix and match with different furniture styles. This video by Cathy Hobbs an interior designer explains some intricate furniture’s which can be displayed into your own space.  Not only just any furniture styles but antique historical furniture’s. This video demonstrates different styles of antique furniture which can be used in a space. Not only does this video shows different furniture, as well explains the history of the furniture and why it was made for its purpose.

 

The furniture store which she elaborates on is Karl Kemp Antiques in New York City. Cathy picks and choose furniture’s that have been used in homes during the olden days.  Cathy explains three furniture’s from different style periods which are:

Biedermeier Period

 

This secretary Desk antique is an Austrian antique which was made from the 1820’s. This furniture is mixed in which classical attributes like the ionic capitals engraved in gold. The wood designs give even more detailed design only using the grain of the wood as a work of design. In my opinion it is brilliant.

 

Neo- Classical

 

This chest antique was made in Russia during the mid century, however it  is a great example of the neo- classical design of the Greek Fret covering around the chest.  Famous for its ebonized wood inlay from the front of the chest throughout the piece.

 

American 50’s

 

This bleached mahogany chest was made in America during the 1950’s. Unlike the first two furniture it is more simple in design and work. However with this furniture  it conquers the viewers interest with its bronze key pull and the clean straight edge front and backings. It is a modern look but it is still an antique.

Chic Interior Design

The Concept for this space was glamour and my client wanted me to put antique furniture’s to be able to have the space feel more modern. Firstly for this one elevation I drafted it to be able to see how it would look like with different types of furniture and wall coverings in the space. Within in this space it displays off- white and golden knobs for the two side tables. Modern light pink lamp resting on top of the modern table. The bed is made out of a cold metal base and designed in a more industrial outlook. Pink coverings and beddings on top of the rustic metal bed base. The wall covering I designed for this space is black and white strips with a curvy intricate design. The wallpaper helps the room seem more feminine and chic with the furniture as well. The chandelier hanging from the roof of the space helps continue on the feeling of a chic but antique room.

This elevation displays antique furniture mixing in with a modern but chic room.  I wanted my viewers to see with each of my post it is possible to put antique furniture into a space with just your imagination.

Coloured Purple Victorian Chair

Upholstered purple fabric covering the comfy cushioned chair. Slender long wood base engraved with intricate designs. This antique chair is in hopes of your interest to display in a space of a modern home.

Originally I did not draw this chair, however I did design and coloured it for a class assignment. This is a good example of an antique furniture with big bold print design for a nice classic home or modern interior. I coloured the fabric purple because it was my favourite colour. The shading brings out the depth of the chair and thickness. Shading helps in colouring to give the furniture a more realistic outlook. The base of the chair is a light coloured wood and I choose this attribute to be able to display wood grains on the furniture. With the wood characteristic it helps bring the furniture to become more realistic. In my opinion it looks like a Victorian chair and I tried to accomplish that display. Drawing and colouring is what I love to do and I wanted to post one of my work in hopes to inspire each viewer that you may design your own antique furniture for your modern home space.

 

This antique replica of a Victorian Chair would work well in a modern space that is chic and sophisticated. Victorian chairs date back during the Victorian Period. This graceful chair is a work of art with its upholstered backing is a piece that in my opinion is an iconic item. Wanting the space to feel classy but still have vintage furniture?

Well in my opinion it is sometimes not that easy depending on what type of furniture it is and how big or small it is. This space still feel classy and stylish even with the antique furniture’s. The worn out table works well with this off- white walls because it complements the colour scheme in the space. Classy doesn’t mean having the space be all new and modern, but just a bit of antique twist will give the space its classy feel.
